Manvir grew up in Brampton and speaks Punjabi and Hindi and understands Urdu.
She is currently working as a Punjabi Youth Settlement Worker at Malton Neighbourhood Services. During her time off, Manvir runs Laadliyan – Celebrating Daughters, to raise awareness about gender inequality within South Asian families.
She engages South Asian girls and women in workshops to discuss the inequalities they may face. As a second generation Punjabi Canadian female, language has always been a crucial part of Manvir’s identity.
Through the Community Engagement and Leadership Initiative, she hopes to hear the insights of others who share similar experiences as her, as well as those whose experiences are different than hers.
